Shopping in Halifax Nova Scotia (HRM)
 

The best way to describe shopping in the Halifax Nova Scotia area is diverse. You can find everything from the box stores at Bayer's Lake or Dartmouth Crossing to large sprawling shopping malls such as Mic Mac Mall or Halifax Shopping Center to the quaint shops of Historic Properties or Spring Garden Road . If you need something you will find it no problem. Stores are open 7 days a week. However not all stores are open on Sunday and many have limited hours.

Here are some of the available shopping options in HRM.

Halifax
 

The Spring Garden Road area is one of liveliest places you could find to shop in the city. This area has about 6 small to medium size shopping malls, including Park Lane, City Centre Atlantic and Spring Garden Place as well as small boutiques spread out along the street. In this area you will find higher end shops of various kinds including designer men's and women's clothing stores. This area is a fun area just to walk and enjoy the sights of the city.

 
 

Barrington Place is located in downtown Halifax , close to Historic Properties. This shopping mall is a collection of smaller, specialized stores and shops. This is also a great place just to walk and enjoy the sites.

One of the most popular shopping districts in the Halifax Regional Municipality is Bayer's Lake. This shopping area is located just outside Halifax towards Bedford off the #102 Hwy. The big box stores such as Costco, Winner's, Staples, Home Depot, Old Navy, Wal-Mart, Winner's Homesense and many others are found here.
 
There are many small and medium size malls throughout the city including Halifax Shopping Center and Park Lane Mall.

Dartmouth
 
 

There are plenty of shopping options in Dartmouth from big box stores and large shopping malls to smaller specialty stores. The two most popular shopping locations in Dartmouth are Dartmouth Crossing and Mic Mac Mall.
 
Dartmouth Crossing is one of metro's most popular shopping areas. Dartmouth Crossing has big box stores such as Costco, Walmart, Home Depot, Golf Town, Best Buy,Staples and many more. It also has a very unique main street style of shopping that has stores on both sides of the street so you can get out of your car and shop much like you would in a downtown shopping district.

 
The MIC Mall is one of the largest shopping malls in Eastern Canada. Mic Mac Mall has hundreds of stores of all sizes. This mall is one of the most popular places to shop in Dartmouth.
If you choose to live in Dartmouth there is plenty of good shopping close by.
 

Bedford

 

There are two medium size indoor shopping malls in Bedford, Sunnyside Mall and Bedford Place Mall, several strip malls with shops and services and many larger malls and specialty stores within a 15 minute drive from Bedford.

 

 

The Sunnyside Mall in Bedford is considered a higher end shopping center where you can find more brand name items and designer clothes. It's anchor stores are Shopper's Drug Mart, Mark's Work Warehouse and Pete's Frootique.
The Bedford Place Mall has over 50 shops and services and provides several quality shopping destinations. The anchor stores at Bedford Place are Gian Tiger Atlantic Superstore, Rona, Dollarama and the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission.
 
Bedford Commons is Bedford's newest shopping area and includes Canadian Tire, Walmart, Staples, Winners, Dollarama and many others. Several other stores are planned for the site as well.


For grocery items Bedford has two grocery stores. Sobeys and Atlantic Superstore grocery stores are both modern stores with excellent quality and variety of food and other items. There are also specialty food stores
that are very popular such as Pete's Frootique, which has possibly the best selection of fruit and vegetables in Nova Scotia. 
 

Sackville

Lower Sackville has a wide variety of shopping opportunities to meet your daily needs.
The Downsview Plaza is Sackville's largest shopping center. In this location you will find Canadian Tire, Sobeys, Giant Tiger, Shopper's Drug Mart, Dollarama, and many smaller stores.
Sackville also has several small to medium size strip malls where you will find smaller retail outlets and service type stores including fast food, deli, drug stores and more.

 
For grocery items there are two large grocery stores. Sobeys and Atlantic Superstore(Loblaws) grocery stores are both modern stores with excellent quality and variety of food and other items. There are also several specialty food stores in the area.
