About Eastern Passage Nova Scotia

Eastern Passage is a beautiful ocean side community located just outside of Dartmouth and Cole Harbour Nova Scotia. It is part of the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM). It gets its name from the narrow strait separating the mainland from McNabs Island and Lawlor Island, both close to Eastern Passage  and viewable from the shreline and community.
CFB Shearwater is located in the community so many of the residents are in the military. Many members that work in CFB halifax also call Eastern Passage home because it is short ferry ride from the Woodside Ferry Terminal to downtown Halifax. Fishing has always been a big part of the community and many fishers make Eastern Passage their home as well.
The ocean is a big part of the community and stunning views are enjoyed from all over the community. The ocean smell is in the air wherever you go. There are several beaches either in the community or nearby including MacDonald beach and Rainbow Haven Beach. Also located in the community and  enjoyed by residents is Fisherman's Cove which is a beautifully restored200 year-old fishing village where you will find shops, restaurants and a boardwalk.
Eastern Passage has schools that provide education from grades primary to grade 12. The newest school  is Islandview High School which opened in 2018 and has a capacity for almost 600 students.  Tallahassee Community School has a community centre that offers community programs and has a fitness center that is open to the public for a fee.
Hartlen Point Golf Course is a military run but  public golf course that is found in Eastern Passage. This a challenging and well kept golf course which has reasonable fees for its members. Military members receive a substantial discount as well.
There is wide range of housing available in many subdivisions found throughout the area. Some of the prices in the area are very reasonable and as a result many first home buyers choose Eastern Passage. Mid and higher priced homes are also available and some have stunning views of the ocean.
There is no shopping in Eastern Passage but excellent shopping is close by in Dartmouth.
